Background

In 1978, a group of future-minded young people decided to join their idealism to the entrepreneurial spirit and invest in an undertaking with far greater prospects than just a rewarding return on their investment. And that is how Silimed was born, in Rio de Janeiro.

In the beginning the small company dedicated itself to commercializing silicone mammary implants, which were imported from France. In 1981, in order to better attend its clients, Silimed - Silicone e Instrumental Médico-Cirúrgico e Hospitalar Ltda., began to manufacture its products in Brazil, in a small laboratory compatible with the technical requirements of those days. One year later, it was already exporting to other countries in Latin America, and in the following years it grew to win the world in several specialties.

In December 1999, a second company was set up with the aim of concentrating again on the Brazilian market where everything had started. That was the birth of Silimed Comércio de Produtos Médico-Hospitalares Ltda., also in Rio de Janeiro. At the same time it was decided to build a second factory (already in operation), with the dimensions to support levels of production that could meet the demands of the growing market, including the North American one, without affecting other areas of activity.

Present today in the five continents, Silimed distributes and markets its products in Brazil through Silimed Comércio, located in Rio de Janeiro, a branch in São Paulo, and 25 representatives attending the entire country.
