Pretty, Well - Shaped Legs

Calf prostheses are an excellent alternative for whoever wants to harmonize their legs with the rest of their body.

Everyone knows that buttocks and breasts are the preference of Brazilian men, but no-one can deny that well-shaped legs make women more sensual and attractive. To help women who want to wear mini-skirts in the summer without feeling guilty, silicone can be a powerful ally and offer excellent results. Calf prostheses are ideal for those who are dissatisfied with their thin legs. Women and men are consulting doctors to have the contour of the lower part of their body corrected by remodeling their legs.

In most cases, these persons feel embarrassed when they wear bermudas, short skirts and dresses, or when they go to the beach.

According to Luis Montelanno, a plastic surgeon specialized in placing this type of implant and responsible for creating an exclusive model marketed by SILIMED since 1985, not everyone can undergo this surgical intervention. Although there are no counter-indications, the doctor emphasizes that the patient has to fit the physical type that is adequate for the prosthesis. “The patient’s legs must be either thin and curved - with the knees apart - or else asymmetrical - one thinner than the other”, he explains.

The surgical procedure for placing the implant is simple, carried out under general or peridural anesthetic, and the patient spends only one day in the hospital. The plastic surgeon explains that a small incision (between 3 and 5 cm) is made behind the knees, and the scar is practically unnoticeable. The prostheses, which are put in place behind the muscle, are not even perceptible to the touch of the patient and do not cause varices or circulatory problems

During the post-operative period, Luis Montelanno recommends that gently-compressing elastic panty-hose be worn in order to not to force the calf. After about a week, patients can take up their normal activities, and physical exercises can be resumed after a month.

SILIMED, the Brazilian company considered to be the world’s third biggest manufacturer of silicone prostheses, is the only one in the country to produce these implants. Two models are marketed here (symmetrical and asymmetrical) in 10 different sizes, all with a smooth surface filled with Biodesign gel.

Calf prostheses were created 30 years ago in France to improve the sequels left by poliomyelitis, a disease already eradicated in Brazil. The use of the implants for aesthetic reasons started here in the mid-80s.
