The Serial Number

Since 1987, Silimed has used control and coding methods for its product range, aiming at the traceability of its processes from manufacture to commercialization. These control methods have developed over the years to the current coding system used. At the end of 1993, Silimed began to print the individual serial numbers. Each product unit has a unique serial number, which is never assigned to or repeated on another product. Silimed is the only company in the world that uses this type of coding on its products confirming, once again, its commitment to quality, safety and reliability.

The Traceability: Theory and Practice

The individual serial number ensures that our company has total control over traceability, not only for the products sold, but also for all the material and techniques used during the manufacturing process. When Silimed receives a request for research or initial contact related to a determined product, we identify the serial number and, through it, we can check all the information pertinent to this product. For example, we can find out the raw material lot from which the product was manufactured (and can even compare it with other products manufactured with the same raw material), we can analyze the process of composition of the envelope, stages of filling with silicone gel, vulcanization, sterilization reports, among other stages and activities applied to the respective product.

The importance for the doctor and the patient

Given the total traceability of our products, doctors can rest easy knowing that we can analyze every stage of manufacture, in case any problem or abnormality occurs. The doctor's trust in any medical product used, is a fundamental factor in the choice of the company which will be the supplier. Silimed offers this easiness and safety, as the surgeon has the technical backing of our Company, and is effectively exempt from any problem arising from manufacturing failures at any stage of the process. The patient purchasing our products is also supported by this control, receiving under any circumstance, either through medical request or any other competent authority, reports on manufacture, sterilization, etc. It is the assurance of a product that meets social responsibility.
